Before it was a state park, it was a national park - being the nation’s second national park! The Mackinac Island Tourism Bureau has a lot more information on this on their website, here! Mackinac Island State Park has over 70 miles of trails and roads for you to explore by bike, horseback or foot. Winter on Mackinac Island is probably different than anything you have ever experienced! It can take a little while to adjust to the winter on the island, but once you do, you love it with all your heart! This year on February 1st and March 7th, there is an awesome experience happening - the Fort Mackinac Turtle Trek!
