Snow has finally arrived in Michigan and we are ready for it! Today, we’re sharing some of our favorite Up North Winter Activities and where to go!
Snow Shoeing: There are so many trails in Northern Michigan to use for snow shoeing. There are trails at North Central Michigan College that are perfect to use, or another local favorite is Pond Hill Farms! Pond Hill Farms has miles of trails for Snow Shoeing, Cross County Skiing, Fat Tire Biking and Sledding!
Skiing: Do you like to ski? While it might be different this year, the ski slopes are still open! In the Petoskey area, we have Nub’s Nob, Boyne Mountain or Boyne Highlands to choose from! If you don’t like skiing, there are also trails there for Cross Country Skiing.
Ice Skating: Have you ever been ice skating at the Petoskey Winter Sports Park? They rent skates there, or you can bring your own! If you bring your own skates, you can skate for FREE! The rental price is only $7. Once it is cold enough for the ice to freeze, this is such a fun activity for the whole family! Sledding: Once you finish Ice Skating, you can go sledding down the hill that is right next to the rink. To warm up, head inside the warming house for a warm mug of hot cocoa!
Another great place to go ice skating / sledding is right in Boyne City! They have FREE skates and using the rink / sledding hill is also FREE! You may want to bring your own skates though, because they might not have the size that you need! While the weather still hasn’t been cold enough for the skating rink, the sledding area is ready to go with all the snow we’ve gotten the past few weeks!
A lot of people forget about Petoskey State Park in the winter. But it’s still a great spot for outdoor activities. Bundle up for snoeshoeing, cross country skiing, fat tire biking or hiking along Lake Michigan.
